2023 California County Loan Limits
Below, you will find the maximum amount that you can borrow on a conforming conventional and FHA Loans. Before checking for a house and after considering your financial capability, you also need to think about the current limits for conforming loan amounts.
Conforming loans are mortgages that meet the dollar limits set by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and the funding criteria of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. For Borrowers with outstanding credit, conforming loans are advantageous due to their low interest rates.
If the amount of your loan exceeds the conforming loan limits, then your mortgage will be a non-conforming loan (or jumbo loan) that comes with higher interest rates. These loan limits change every year and vary for different counties. Therefore, you need to check the county loan limit where the property that you wish to purchase is located.
